Abstract

SUMMARY In this paper we propose a simple algorithm for computing maximum likelihood estimates of an extended Box-Cox model where the same transformation is applied to the dependent variable as well as to the independent variable(s). Illustrative examples presented show that our algorithm performs very well in practical applications. The algorithm can easily be modified to accommodate more general models of the Box-Cox type including the classic Box-Cox model.
