Abstract

A new easy to realize active-RC analogue delay line with tap outputs available at every half-bit delay intervals has been described. The basic delay section, comprising of only two transistors and a few RC elements, has a delay to rise-time ratio of 1.3 and works upto a frequency range of 500 kHz. A tapped delay line of lengths upto 15 can be easily made by cascading the basic delay sections. This delay line is particularly useful in the audio and lower frequency ranges where other types of delay lines are more cumbersome. Even in the discrete form, it is quite compact and can be further miniaturized by using IC/thin/thick-film hybrid techniques.
