Abstract
The silage coring device consisted of a rotating tube with a sharp smooth cutting edge, and a 12-volt electric motor powered by an automobile battery. The device was used to drill vertical cores from the silage surface to the silo floor. Total dry matter in a horizontal silo was estimated from the core dimensions and dry weight.
