Abstract
α-Methoxy-α-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl aceuc acid (MTPA) is a valuable derivatiang agent for eiwittiomeric excess determination of alcohols and amines. A short synthesis of a precursor to this compound, based on the asymmetric dihydroxylation (AD) reaction is reported.
