Abstract

The contractile effects of PGF 2α and its cloprostenol analogs ( d-enantiomer and racemate) were examined on isolated smooth muscle preparations (uterine, tracheal, ileal and arterial) from rat, guinea-pig and horse. dl- and d-cloprostenol were potent contractors of myometrium, but had negligible secondary effects on other types of smooth muscle, except artery whose response to the d-enantiomer may give rise to some concern.
