Abstract
A high-frequency multibiased multiphase voltage-controlled oscillator (MBM-VCO) for clock and data recovery is proposed. The operating frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) ranges from 2.1 to 5.5 GHz. The sensitivity of the VCO to bias is reduced through multibias technology and interleaving bias, while the ability to single-event transient (SET) tolerance of the ring oscillator is improved through layout hardening. Laser experiments show that the threshold value of the proposed MBM-VCO is greatly improved. Ion experiments further show a SET tolerance under linear energy transfers (LETs) of 83.7 MeV <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">$\,\cdot $ </tex-math></inline-formula> cm 2 /mg.
