Abstract
The first set of nine microsatellite markers for the endangered sea urchin Strongylocentrotus nudus was developed from EST databases of S. purpuratus. Number of alleles per locus ranged from two to thirteen. The observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.000 to 0.645 and from 0.063 to 0.912, respectively. These informative microsatellite markers will be useful in studies of population genetic structure for this species.
