Abstract

Digital technology is now a normal part of daily life, with its use within healthcare increasing, and a whole chapter in the recent NHS Long Term Plan [1] dedicated to moving towards digitally enabled care across the NHS in the next 10 years. However, for technology to improve healthcare it must be acceptable to the end user and offer benefits over and above traditional models of care. As home enterally tube fed (HETF) patients require regular monitoring and support in the community setting, there is great potential for the use of digital solutions in this patient group. Especially as the HETF demographic is changing, with increasing numbers of younger, more active and more independent patient groups (such as head and neck cancer and paediatrics (BANS 2018 [2])).
