Abstract

This paper presents a series compensated induction generator system with open-end stator windings for feeding power simultaneously to DC loads and frequency insensitive AC loads including non-linear and unbalanced loads. A two level voltage source inverter (VSI) with a charged capacitor at the DC link has been used to provide the necessary reactive power to the generator as well as the loads. The induction generator supplies only the active power to the loads. The proposed system with DC loads connected across the DC link of the VSI and constant voltage variable frequency loads connected to the AC side has been experimentally verified using an induction generator with open-end stator windings. The behaviour of the system with non-linear and unbalanced loads at AC side has also been experimentally observed. The control scheme was implemented using a digital signal processor – TMS320F28335.
