Abstract

A set of programs providing tools for detailed primary analysis of nucleotide and amino acid sequences is presented. Several features not available with other packages are included. These features focus on means for presentation of data in a manner more desirable to the sequencer. Screen graphics have been used extensively to enhance several types of output. The programs are modular and are easily adapted for individual needs. Furthermore, any of these programs can be integrated with other packages to combine abilities. The programs are menu driven, autoinitializing, and self-prompting; they fit on one DSDD diskette (Help and tutorial are on a second diskette) to eliminate diskette shuffleing. Default responses are provided, and further documentation (Help) can be obtained at any time. Many features of the PC/AT are utilized to facilitate operation and protect the user from data loss. The main objective in the design of these programs was that they produce easily interpretable and publication-quality output with user-selected variety. The programs execute as rapidly as other packages. A comparison between the capabilities of this package with those of other packages is also presented.
