Abstract

AbstractA highly sensitive biosensor based on glucose oxidase (GOx) immobilized on brushite cement is described. Biosensor was kept free of the interferences produced by ascorbic and uric acid by placing an extra Nafion film on the surface of the platinum electrode. Variables involved in the enzyme immobilization method were investigated. The biosensor exhibits a rapid response (10 s); a wide linear range (9×10−6 M to 3×10−3 M); low detection limit (9 µM); and high sensitivity (52.5±0.6 mA M−1 cm−2). Nafion/GOx/brushite biosensor was used to monitor the glucose levels of serum samples and satisfactory results were obtained.
