Abstract

SUMMARY Chinese cabbage plants grown in soil without the addition of nutrients developed local lesions after inoculation with turnip yellow mosaic virus or its RNA, provided that the inoculated leaves were illuminated by mercury-vapour lamps. A linear relationship was found between lesion number and concentration of RNA.
