Abstract

A painting of Federico Zuccari, the founder of the academy of arts in Rome, clearly demonstrates his credentials in geometry. If you've got it, flaunt it. And 'it' for the Renaissance artists was a knowledge of geometry. Art was rejecting its artisanal roots and in the spirit of the age, embracing scientific method. Federico Zuccari, founder of the Roman academy of arts, is a case in point.
