Abstract

A simple, rapid, screening test for cold agglutinins that can be performed entirely at room temperature has been developed. The test utilizes a buffered bromelin reagent. Sera with standard cold agglutinin titers greater than 1:32 produced agglutination with this method. Sera with cold agglutinin titers of 1:32 or less produced no agglutination.
