Abstract

A semiempirical prediction of the occurrence of resonance in heavy-ion reactions is proposed based on an estimate of their spreading width. This calculation is applied to s--d nuclei from A = 24 to 32. Included are /sup 24/Mg, /sup 28/Si, /sup 26/Al, /sup 32/S, /sup 25/Mg, /sup 26/Mg, /sup 27/Al, /sup 29/Si, /sup 30/Si, /sup 30/P, /sup 32/P, and /sup 31/P. (JFP)
