The analysis method consists of two steps: the first step is an analytical homogenization procedure based on the classical laminate theory to smear the rectangular web-core sandwich structure into an equivalent orthotropic plate; the second step is a semi-analytical discretization scheme to calculate the deflection of the transformed plate by spline finite strip method. The resulting procedure provides a useful analysis tool which can be used in the preliminary design stage without the need to use finite element analysis. Keywords:FRP web-core sandwich deckHomogenizationClassical laminate theorySpline finite strip methodFinite element analysis FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited By 1A combined experimental-numerical analysis of a novel deformable sandwich structure for morphing wing applicationsAmin Hajarian, Mohammad Reza Zakerzadeh, Hamid Salehi and Mostafa Baghani10 December 2020 | Journal of Sandwich Structures & Materials, Vol. 23, No. 8 Recommended Vol. 03, No. 02 Metrics History KeywordsFRP web-core sandwich deckHomogenizationClassical laminate theorySpline finite strip methodFinite element analysisPDF download
