Abstract
Diffusion from ground-level sources in the neutral boundary layer is described using a semi-Lagrangian formulation. The eddy diffusivity is assumed to depend on the standard deviation of the concentration profile at each streamwise location. The approach leads to simple analytical expressions for the variation of concentration in terms of flow parameters as the roughness height and the friction velocity, which are in good agreement with experimental results without requiring the use of a turbulent Schmidt number smaller than unity.
