Abstract

We show how the multi-Regge cluster model leads, through unitarity, to an equation relating the mean multiplicity of clusters to an expansion involving triple-Regge (MMP) vertices. Taking these from inclusive data, and making some simplifying assumptions, we obtain values for n > which agree with estimates from correlation data. The model predicts the probability of clusters having non-zero strangeness and so allows us to estimate the K/π production ratio in excellent agreement with data. We find that n > increases with impact parameter.
