Abstract

An improved technique is described for obtaining high resolution extraction replicas from steels. Carbon replicas are dry-stripped from etched steel using a collodion backing. The replicas obtained are not only cleaner because they are free from surplus etching debris, but allow selective extraction of very fine precipitates in the presence of massive carbide particles.
