Abstract Spectroscopic and imaging searches for nebular emission associated with a sample of hot subdwarf O (sdO) stars have been carried out. Of 45 stars searched, no evidence of such nebulosity is found in 44. The single exception is RWT 152, around which a planetary nebula had been discovered previously. These negative results place constraints on the evolutionary history of these stars.
