Abstract

Terentjeva ( Asteroids, Comets, Meteors III, pp. 579–584. Uppsala Univ. Press, Uppsala, 1990) in her analysis of 554 fireball orbits reported that she found 78 fireball streams. The present paper summarizes a similar analysis of a set of over 1000 photographic orbits of meteors brighter than magnitude — 3. Fireball streams are searched for using a computerized stream-search procedure based on the Southworth-Hawkins D discriminant, considering their radiants, daily motion and the sizes of the radiant areas. Except for the fireball belonging to the known meteoroid streams a substantially lower number of possible fireball streams was found. The mean orbits, radiants and periods of activity of the streams are presented.
