Abstract

Extensive air showers of energy > 2.1015eV were detected by either Cerenkov night-sky light receivers or by a small array of liquid scintillators. Coincident radio pulses were observed at 200 MHz, the results apparently suggesting an incoherent emission mechanism; only slight evidence was obtained for any corresponding 3000 MHz emission. The results are discussed in terms of possible mechanisms for production by showers of radiation at these frequencies.
