Park et al. have identified a reason for this, showing in the KP mouse model of lung cancer that monocyte-derived macrophages (mo-macs) expressing triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) restrict NK-cell recruitment and activation by limiting IL18 signaling and IL15 production. Targeting TREM2 and activating NK cells with an antibody that stabilizes MIC-A effectively controls tumor growth, highlighting the translational potential of the new study. Park MD, …, Merad M.
