Abstract

With another exciting and productive year of Advanced Energy Materials drawing to a close, and with the start of a new promising year, we would like to take the opportunity to look back at the accomplishments of 2018. Last year the journal received close to 4000 submissions, and published over 700 high-quality, high-impact articles covering all areas of energy research. In June, with the release of the 2018 Journal Citation Report, Advanced Energy Materials received its highest yet impact factor, 21.875, confirming its place as a prime outlet for the highest quality energy research. With Advanced Energy Materials' stellar rise, the number of submissions, which was already high, kept growing steadily. This led to our Editors having to deal with the difficult but rewarding task of being ever more selective about which manuscripts ought to be considered for publication, given the limited journal space available. To help with this issue, our Editors can count on several sister journals in our group that cover more specialized areas in energy research and therefore can serve as a home to some of the high-quality content that, for any reason, was not deemed suitable for Advanced Energy Materials. Advanced Sustainable Systems, Energy Technology, Solar RRL, and Global Challenges have been our steadfast partners in our effort to publish high-quality content that could not make it into Advanced Energy Materials. As always, we would like to send our warmest thank-you to our Editorial Board Members, who help us in developing the journal and making it grow into an ever-stronger high-impact journal. Also, a special thanks to our guest-editors, who helped us put together two great Special Issues in 2018, Issues 17 and 28, which focused on Sodium-Ion Batteries, and on Organic Photovoltaics respectively. Both issues formed collections of top-quality review articles in these specific areas of energy research. The success of our journal in yet another extraordinary year would not have been possible but for the support of our Editorial Advisory Board members, authors, reviewers, and readers. We look forward to another great year in 2019, and I hope to see your next high-impact manuscript published with us! Adv. Energy Mater. 2017, 7, 1700260 DOI: 10.1002/aenm.201700260 (Review) Adv.
