Abstract

In this paper, we propose a rule-based smart thermostat, which controls thermostat's temperature set-point intelligently by machine learning and rule engine so that it can achieve energy savings without sacrifice of occupant comfort. Through feasibility simulation, it is observed that the proposed method for the rule-based smart thermostat may achieve better energy savings while keeping human comfort. Extensive experiments to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method for commercialization is prepared, whose results will be reported.
