Abstract

In Moscow on November 15, 1989, the editors of the journal Voprosy istorii [Problems of History], the Publications Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, and the Moscow Theological Academy held a roundtable discussion of secular and church historians on the topic "The role of the Russian Orthodox church in Russian history." The leaders of the roundtable were the editor-in-chief of Voprosy istorii, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences A.A. Iskenderov, and the chairman of the Publications Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Pitirim of Volokolamsk and Iur'evo.
