Abstract

Boron nitride hollow spheres were synthesized by the reaction of BBr 3 and NaNH 2 at room temperature; X-ray powder diffraction pattern could be indexed as hexagonal BN with the lattice constants of a=2.482 and c=6.701 Å; high-resolution transmission electron microscopy image showed the hollow spheres consisted of BN nanoparticles, with diameter between 80 and 300 nm; a possible formation mechanism of BN hollow spheres was discussed.
