Abstract

A roll-out catching harvester was designed for citrus fruit destined for processing. It consisted of a telescopic trunk shaker, a roll-out fruit collector, and a fruit handling system. The major thrust of this work is the novel development of a canvas roll-out mechanism operated by means of self-propelled hydraulic powered carriages. Fruit recovery of 90% and harvest capacity of 30-40 trees/h (6 t/h) were obtained with three workers under different grove conditions and citrus varieties.
