Abstract

A design for a robust reactive, on-line, optimizing scheduler is presented. Constraints may be state dependent which makes the scheduler especially useful for mixed-batch/continuous plants. It is able to adapt the schedule on-line to handle disturbances and failures. In both off-line and reactive mode it uses all degrees of freedom. Therefore, it is optimally equipped to deal with disturbances. Extensive robustness analysis can be made for a schedule. Schedule robustness can be optimized or even guaranteed. The scheduling technique is model based. The model is built up of independent units which are represented by objects
