Abstract

Bluetooth is a low-power, low-cost wireless communication system operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. Since the 2.4 GHz band is shared among many other wireless systems, Bluetooth is particularly susceptible to harmful interference. We consider such scenarios and provide an algorithm that can increase the throughput in a Bluetooth piconet in the presence of lossy wireless channels. We show, through simulations, that the proposed algorithm provides increased throughputs for a wide range of channel conditions. In addition, the algorithm is simple and easily implementable.
