Abstract

A robot remote control experimental system based on VPN (Virtual Private Network) and TCP/IP protocols is proposed in this paper. This system can be mainly divided into two major parts: the robot part (terminal) and the control software part (controller), where these two parts may be located in different places-typically in different cities globally-and can communicate with each other through the Internet using VPN technology and TCP/IP protocol stack. The robot can make its movement according to the commands received from the controller, and its real-time status can be monitored by a camera simultaneously. A prototype of the robot remote control system was established in Chengdu, China and Tokyo, Japan to testify its feasibilities.
