Abstract
Types and additional material of the Western Palaearctic species of Nazeris Fauvel, 1873 are revised. Eleven species are recognised, among them two species new to science: N. seguricus sp. n. (Spain: Sierra de Segura and N. jaenicus sp. n. (Spain: Sierra Almaden). The species are (re-)described and illustrated. The following synonymies are established: Nazeris ibericus Koch, 1940 = N. laticeps Fagel, 1958, syn. n., = N. atlanticus Coiffait, 1971, syn. n., = N. algarvensis Coiffait, 1971, syn. n., = Nazeris sengleti Bordoni, 1975, syn. n.; N. bernhaueri Normand, 1936 = N. nigriventris Fagel, 1958, syn. n. Lectotypes are designated for Nazeris ibericus Koch, 1940 and N. ibericus Scheerpeltz, 1958. The Western Palaearctic Nazeris species are attributed to two species groups, both of them with remarkably disjunct distributions: the N. pulcher group (with two subgroups) and the N. curtipennis group. The distribution of the genus as a whole in the Western Palaearctic, as well as those of the individual species are mapped. A catalogue and a key to species are provided. Bionomic data are compiled.
