Abstract
In the present era, health care is becoming expensive with rising costs and an aging population where on the other hand, the government is unable to allocate the expenses for them. Due to this problem, patients are undergoing trauma and feeling difficulty to avail the medical services. In this case, wireless communication reduces cost and patient suffering. This wireless system can be implemented using very large scale integration (VLSI) concept which is applicable for biomedical applications. Using VLSI methods in neurology helps to reduce the size of the circuits, area and speed improvement. In this review, different approaches are discussed for VLSI implementation of neural networks which is mentioned as CMOS technology, design of medical implant communication system (MICS) receiver for biomedical applications, field programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation of neural networks, neuro-fuzzy system, neural network implementation in analog hardware and digital network. Also, the strengths and drawbacks of these systems and approaches are included here.
