Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a developing technology that facilitates communication between huge numbers of addressable things for data transfer. Since the inception of the idea of automation, robotics has come a long way and has offered humans the capability to do the undoable, predict the unpredictable, and perform the unperformable. With the advent of IoT, robots have become smarter and more accessible from the extreme ends of our planet; the technology is also known as Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT). This chapter investigates how the blend of IoT with robotics will enhance the ability of IoT and IoRT, allowing creation of intelligent and smart services. It also discusses the challenges in the IoRT-based intelligent systems for control and monitoring of exterior events, sensor data attained from various sources, etc., additionally, it provides an understanding and tentative view of the architecture of IoRT.
