Abstract

Game-based learning can be utilised by instructors to improve the language skills of learners. The research investigates the relationship between game-based language learning and social development in the context of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). E-games appear to be the most effective technique for stimulating interactions in the language learning process. E-games give freedom for the learners to explore, fail, and manage one’s own involvement and experience. Knowledge acquisition, content understanding, as well as affective outcome and motivation, were the most commonly occurring outcomes and impacts. The purpose of this study is to show E-games are a smart language learning environment. The research questions focus on the impacts of using E-games to develop cognitive ability, equitable quality, and language skills in the English classrooms. The objectives of this review paper identify the cognitive ability, motivational level, social interactions, interest, and impacts of using E-games to develop language skills. The possible findings suggest that using E-games can be effective in language acquisition, cognitive ability, and social development.
