Abstract
Sentiment analysis, in the past few years has grown in terms of its reach. In the beginning, it mainly focused on the analysis of textual inputs, looking forward to expand its boundaries. Over time, there have been advancements in other modalities of data as well, that include audio and visual data. Globally, the researchers have been showing keen interest in this regard and are coming up with different techniques to accomplish this task. This paper has explained various methods that are widely being used for sentiment analysis. Here, some of the approaches used by various authors in their experiments are studies. Also, the proposed research work has explored different applications, where sentiment analysis is currently being used. For example, monitoring social media sites such as Twitter, managing customer response and predicting election results.
