Abstract

Proven optimization techniques and optical diagnostic techniques show that HNG supplementation promotes combustion stability, flame propagation and perform better than gasoline-fuelled engines. Extensive drive cycle analysis data indicates a lower fuel consumption and emission footprint with HNG. The existence of proven natural gas reserves in many countries affirms that HNG fuel may be made easily available. The present article provides an insight on the important progress made in the past studies, the scope for future work and the strategies for a steady transition into long-term sustainability, till the arrival of newer automotive applications that offer zero or low environmental hazards.
