A review of web-based information system for decision support context

Abstract

The web-based information system is one of information system platform that can support any kind of its application functions using many features available. When a web application paired to the business vision, then it would go too far from decision support of the organization's management. Organizing the information is the thing to do to manage and support the decision-making. Decision making is a crucial area of management because it may define the upcoming life story of the organization. Therefore, it needs to be well constructed in a custom techniques, let say by using web-based information system development methods, by recognizing the existing studies first. The study is trying to recognize the web-based information system development and evaluation in the context of decision support by exploring the application function, techniques, subject, study's type, and decision improvement domain. The distribution of final selected studies within some databases is quite varied in number, but it shows a falling trend in the last six years. The result shows that all of the studies didn't meet the quality evaluation criteria. According to the result, the web-based information system is capable to provide decision support feature.
