Abstract

With the development of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology and its widespread clinical application, orthodontists are starting to perform and study three-dimensional cephalometic analysis with CBCT data. Three-dimensional cephalometric analysis requires construction of three-dimensional craniofacial images of the patients from CBCT data, and usage of relevant software to measure and analyze the constructed images. This paper is a reviewsabout definition and the development ofthree-dimensionalcephalometric analysis, methods for reorientation, landmarks seletions, references and measurements, and superimposition of CBCT images. It also briefly describes its future prospect. Key words: Cone-beam CT; Three dimensional cephalometric analysis
