Abstract

Early in my career in science education, I was introduced to the Handbook of Research on Science Teaching and Learning (Gabel 1994). This volume became outdated, and I was very excited when Handbook of Research on Science Education (Abell and Lederman 2007) was published. However, the first question that came to my mind when asked to review this second volume of the Handbook of Research on Science Education (Lederman and Abell 2014) was ‘‘I wonder what new information might be in this volume? Is it worth to science educators to purchase a second volume?’’ I went into the review with that question in my mind. Therefore, I decided to compare similarities and differences between the volume I am reviewing and the Handbook of Research on Science Education (Abell and Lederman 2007).
