Abstract
This paper reviews ultrasonic (US) and electromagnetic wave (EM) EOR techniques. Due to decrease in discoveries of oil reservoirs during the recent years, it is deduced that the only way to meet the shortage of oil in coming years is to improve the efficiency of enhance oil recovery (EOR). Every EOR method has its own pros and cons. Electromagnetic enhanced oil recovery method is cost-effective and environmental friendly. Another relatively new approach because of its easy applicability, energy efficiency, eco-friendliness, or “green technology” which is getting attention of researchers is known as ultrasonic enhance oil recovery. The irradiation of ultrasonic wave and electromagnetic heating has advantage of minimizing heat loss during enhance oil recovery. This study focuses on the investigation of effect of power and frequency of US and EM wave enhance oil recovery. This paper concludes that the application of US and EM wave to oil reservoir resulted in significant improvement in enhance oil recovery of heavy crude oil .
