Abstract

Natural fibre reinforced composites find increased attention in construction, automotive, furniture and packaging applications. Jute (Corchorus Olitorius) is grown in tropical countries and is one of the strongest bast fibres with low cost. The properties of jute fibre along with surface modification to enhance their compatibility with the polymer matrices is presented. This work deals with survey of jute based polymer composites. The jute composites involving various thermoset, thermoplastics polymers, bio-based resins, jute hybrid composites and their mechanical properties are elucidated.
