Abstract
Industrial weighing now covers a wide field and has developed separately from that of process instrumentation. Special areas have progressed independently resulting in spectacular advances which have taken full advantage of solid state electronics and computer technology. This review starts with five basic weighing methods and gives some examples of their use. Some miscellaneous theoretical points are then brought out concerning high-speed checkweighers, batch weighing, sack filling and weigh feeders. In conclusion, brief treatments of price computing counter scales, blending systems and weighing in motion are given which highlight the use of modern electronics and computers. A few further references are given.
