Abstract

Summary A review of acute finger injuries presenting at a Plastic Unit over a two-year period is presented. The length of time off work has been compared in the various forms of treatment and it has been found that following amputation patients are off work longer than those treated by split-skin grafts or cross-finger flaps. The average length of time in hospital can be reduced by adequate out-patient facilities for dressings and physiotherapy.
