Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) during pregnancy is common and distressing, however, the syndrome can be simply treated if diagnosed early. The purpose of this article is to revise the anatomy and pathology of CTS in pregnancy, enabling the midwife to diagnose the condition and instigate early treatment in the antenatal clinic. The current international literature on CTS in pregnancy is reviewed and key points are set out in the text.
