Abstract

A review of the history of numerical calculations of the m = 1 resistive internal kink is presented. A discussion of the difficulties facing the computational physicist in doing these calculations and how these difficulties have been overcome is also given. In addition, reasons for renewed interest and recent results in this field are presented.
