Abstract

Dual-polarized antennas are used to achieve polarization diversity in order to increase the capacity and reliability of wireless communication links. In order to cater to increased wireless communication traffic, dual-polarized antennas are required having broad bandwidths and high isolation between two orthogonal ports. Various dual-polarized antenna designs have been explored to achieve broad bandwidth and high isolation across the entire band of interest. This paper reviews various techniques proposed in recent years for the design of dual linearly polarized antennas to achieve high isolation and broad bandwidth. A detailed analysis of these techniques in terms of their advantages and limitations is presented.
