Abstract

This paper has the purpose of reviewing Aboriginal cultural factors for the Jervis Bay area is the light of proposals to carry out a range of developments which may affect the Bay, the shoreline and the environs. Rationale: Commonwealth responsibilities for the long term environmental management of Jervis Bay must include considerations of the Aboriginal National Estate. This task is essential to ensure that any deleterious environmental effects of developments of shoreline and adjacent areas are minimised. As yet this cultural component of the Jervis Bay environment has been poorly described and evaluated.
