Abstract

Crops production are affected by the water quality. A healthy water quality helps to ensure good agricultural productions as well as high quality of the products. However, the usage of fertilizers, pesticides, and the release of untreated wastewater by agriculture sites have been reported to be among the causes of water pollution worldwide. Therefore, this study looks into the issue of water quality for agriculture. The advancement of water quality monitoring system is also presented. A literature review was carried and the findings are presented here. From the review, salinity and pH are identified as the most important parameters of water quality for agriculture while internet of things and artificial intelligence are found to be the main enablers of advanced water quality monitoring. Additionally, a framework of water quality monitoring system for agriculture industry is proposed for implementation of the future study.
