Abstract

Purpose: While regionalization of neonatal care has improved health outcomes for infants with anticipated need for specialized care, disparities in morbidity and mortality exist when high-risk deliveries occur unexpectedly at local community hospitals. We hypothesized that synchronous video telemedicine consults provided by neonatologists would significantly improve the quality of delivery room care for high-risk newborns who require resuscitation in a community hospital.
